Where is the Big Buddha on
The Big Buddha Koh Samui is not on Koh Samui but on
the small lying island of Koh Fan, which can be reached via a dam. This, in
turn, is located in the northeast of the island in the district Bangrak near
the Seatran Pier, from which there are boats to Koh Phangan or Koh Tao. If you
arrive from the neighboring islands on Koh Samui, at least at the Seatran or
Big Buddha Pier, you will already see him on the boat trip. It’s the same with
most flights because many planes fly over the head of the Big Buddha when
landing on Koh Samui.
How do I get to the Big Buddha?
There are several ways to get to the Big Buddha on Koh Samui or Koh Fan. The most expensive option is a taxi. Another option would be to take the Songthaew (shared taxi). This will cost from 100 Baht per person depending on the distance of Koh Samui accommodation.
The easiest option for us would be to drive to the Big
Buddha with a rented scooter. Of course, there are several ways here. The
easiest way is over the ring road of Koh Samui. There, turn north on the way to

past the Seatran Pier you will see on your left an archway to the temple.

should respect Buddhism. That means if possible no tank tops, something deep
cut out or too short shorts wear. The shoulders and knees should always be
covered before entering. If you do not have anything to cover you can borrow
clothes for free on the right side of the entrance.
You should also take off your shoes before entering. However, if you come to the Big Buddha in the midday heat, signs will show you the shoes.
